FORT WORTH, Texas–(BUSINESS WIRE)–GENERAL MOTORS FINANCIAL COMPANY, INC. (“GM Financial” or the “Company”), today announced that for the third consecutive year, the company is the leader in overall manufacturer loyalty among captive automotive lenders. This recognition is based on GM Financial analysis of IHS Markit lease and retail return to market manufacturer loyalty data for calendar year 2018.*
Dan Berce, President and CEO of GM Financial, commented, “Securing our status as the leader in overall manufacturer loyalty for the third consecutive year demonstrates that GM Financial’s investments in customer experience are working — as intended — to drive customer loyalty to GM and support our dealers.”
For the 2018 calendar year, GM Financial earned the highest manufacturer loyalty rate for returning lessees, as 79% of existing lease customers acquired another GM vehicle. Vehicle owners who financed their original purchase through GM Financial and returned to market during 2018 remained loyal to General Motors at a rate of 68%, the highest manufacturer loyalty rate among manufacturer-owned lenders.
“This leadership position also affirms the tireless commitment and hard work of the GM Financial team, who define the customer experience to consumers and dealers,” continued Berce. “Looking ahead, we’re committed to continuing our efforts to drive customer loyalty and retention and generate incremental sales.”
Earlier this year, General Motors was honored for the fourth year in a row with the IHS Markit automotive loyalty award for “Overall Loyalty to Manufacturer” for the 2018 model year.
*Manufacturer loyalty in this case is defined as households who return to market from a captive OEM-leased or purchased vehicle and remain loyal to the same manufacturer. This data is based on disposal methodology and IHS Markit segmentation in the U.S.
