New Exec Brings Global Sales and Marketing Leadership Experience to Support Cloud and Services Growth
RESTON, Va.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Ellucian, the world’s leading provider of software and services built to power higher education, today announced that it has appointed Asim Zaheer as its new Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). Based in Ellucian’s headquarters in Reston, Virginia, Zaheer will lead all aspects of the company’s global Brand Marketing, Field Marketing, Solutions Marketing, Marketing Communications and Marketing Operations organizations.
As CMO, Zaheer will join the executive leadership team and drive strategic marketing initiatives focused on digital transformation and moving to cloud. He will build on the momentum of Ellucian’s strong global growth across the entire portfolio of software and services serving more than 2,500 higher education institutions around the globe.

Throughout his 25-year career in the technology sector, Zaheer has proven himself as a transformational leader, dedicated to developing and executing successful marketing strategies that have created new markets and disrupted others. Most recently, he was a trusted executive team member and CMO at Hitachi Vantara, a subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd. In this role, Zaheer transformed a global marketing organization and helped launch the new multi-billion-dollar provider of data infrastructure, analytics, cloud, and Internet of Things (IoT) solutions.
Prior to Hitachi Vantara, Zaheer served as CMO and SVP at Hitachi Data Systems where he directed all phases of marketing. His diverse background also includes extensive startup experience in high-tech leadership roles with software and services companies. Zaheer’s work has also been featured in numerous publications, including Harvard Business Review and The Economist.
